Told almost entirely in song, Godspell presents the gospel of St. Matthew updated to today's times. A lively cast makes its way around a sparsely populated park, re-enacting Biblical parables with great enthusiasm and flamboyance. Opting for a lighter yet devout approach, Godspell features a sparkling score by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Prince of Egypt) with hummable, well-loved songs, notably "Prepare Ye (The Way of the Lord)," "By My Side," and "Day by Day."
