Misery

"Misery" follows the story of Paul Sheldon, a successful romance novelist who is rescued from a car crash by his "number one fan," Annie Wilkes. Paul awakens to find himself held captive in Annie's secluded home. As he recovers, Annie reads his latest manuscript and becomes furious upon learning that he has killed off her favorite character, Misery Chastain. She demands that Paul write a new Misery novel to resurrect the character, making it clear that she has no intention of letting him go. Trapped and terrified, Paul must write as if his life depends on it—because it does.
